U.G. CLASS ROOM FACILITY
The U.G. Department of Economics has
spacious classrooms with adequate wooden furniture for the students and is
situated on the first & second floor of the Humanities Hall.
P.G. CLASS ROOM FACILITY
The P.G. Department of Economics is
located on the second floor of the Centenary Hall. In addition to M.Phil. and
MA classrooms, there is a computer lab, a seminar cum library hall (40’ x 30’)
with required furniture, podium and audio system.
COMPUTING FACILITY
Department has a computer lab with
recent social science statistical packages in addition to the fully-equipped
computer lab at the Department of Applied Science of the college.
LIBRARY
Department library is a repository of select, rare, relevant books in economic
theory, policy and quantitative techniques. Besides, it has a rare collection
of working papers of ICSSR and other national reputed institutions in India. At
present, the department library has more than 1500 books on different branches
of Economics such as Price Theory, Macro Economics, Public Finance, Financial
Economics, Development Economics, Monetary Economics,Economic Thought, Research
Methodology, International Economics, Managerial Economics, Indian Economy,
Regional Economics, Marketing, Econometrics, Industrial Strategies, Behavioural
Economics, etc.,. In 2000-01, the department obtained a special contribution
from World Bank (through Madras School of Economics) to purchase books on
Environmental Economics.In 2001-02, the department obtained 256 books as gifts
from Centre for Development Studies, Trivandrum. Moreover, the Department of
Economics received books worth more than Rs. one and half lakhs from Economic
and Political Weekly, Mumbai in the year 2005-06. Apart from these, the
college’s Daniel Poor Memorial Library houses more than 10,000 books in the
areas of economy, society, environment and polity.
