  • HISTORY
    The history of the Department of English begins with the inception of the college, since the study of the English language was mandatory for students of all degree programmes. The Department started the undergraduate degree programme in English Language and Literature in 1968 due to popular demand. The postgraduate programme was started in the year 1980 to mark the centenary of the college. The department became a research centre in 1994. The department introduced the M.Phil programme in English in the year 2005.
