practical communication and to make them think and express ideas, sentiments in

To improve their reading and writing skill
To enhance their ability to communicate effectively and acquire the
pronunciation of native speaker by means of spoken Hindi.

HISTORY
The seed of Hindi Department of American College was sown in the year 1944. Mr.
Vanchinathan had been instrumental in laying the foundation. Later Mr.
Devendran, Mr. Tulasiram and Mr. Subburaman have nurtured the department with
their utmost dedication. Faculty members of the department also contribute to
the vibrant culture of the college by organizing Hindi Day celebrations like
Surabhi & Utsav, seminars and meetings.
