LIBRARY POLICIES
All American College faculty, students,
and staff are eligible to borrow from the Library.
Library Borrowers Card:
You’re American College photo ID is your
Library borrower’s card. If you lose your American College ID, you should
immediately inform the Daniel Poor Memorial Library, in writing to avoid any
misuse of your membership. However you will also have to inform the students
services convener to obtain a new or a duplicate ID card.
Loan Period:
30 Days
Fines:
Overdue fines are Rs.2.00 per day;
Borrowers who owe more than Rs.25.00 to the Daniel Poor Memorial Library must
clear their fines before borrowing more books.
Renewals:
Library users are permitted to renew
books until there is a need for recall of the books.
Recalls:
The OPAC includes circulation status
information for books in the Daniel Poor memorial library. You will have to
submit a written letter to the library for a recall on a book that is check out
of the library.
Please note: when a book is needed and
recalled for use by another patron, the loan period is automatically shortened
to 10 days and the borrower is notified by a letter from the librarian’s office
with a new due date. Once a book has been recalled, the date stamped in the
book in no longer valid.
Borrowing Limits:
In order to make materials accessible to
all library users and to help people maintain control to their borrowing
records, the library limits the total number of items charged out by all
library users to 10 books at any given time. If you try to borrow beyond your
limit you will be asked to return some items before charging any more.
Weekdays/Evenings:
Access is unrestricted, but American
College students, faculty and staff must show their college photo ID card when
asked by the library staff at the entrance. All student users are expected to
sign the log at the entrance. All student users are expected to sign the log at
the entrance. Their id and their name must be written in legible handwriting.
Weekends/Holidays:
There are no library services provided
to any library user.
Guest of The American College Students:
Students who wish to bring guests into
the library will have to meet the librarian and get his permission.
Special Needs:
Researches who are not enrolled at The
American College and others for some personal research who want to use the
library must write a letter addressed to the Principal, The American College
stating the need to use the library and a rough time period to do research at
the library. On receiving permission they will have to pay Rs.100.00
(non-refundable). However thy will have no borrowing privileges.
