The Department of Mathematics is one of the oldest Departments in The American College.When the college had its origins in Pasumalai, Mr. Santiago was the teacher of Mathematics. The Undergraduate was started in the year 1913 by Prof. S. Mahadeva Iyer. The Post graduate programme was started in the year 1983 by Prof. B. Gunaraj, who also served as the principal of the college. Popular demand for the UG programme resulted in the launch of the B.Sc.Mathematics(Self Financed) programme in 2004.
