Globalization has revolutionized education and unless one keeps in pace with the changes,( Place Dean of Academic Advising as number 2 next to Dean of Academic Policies and Administration) within a short peace we may be out of the race. It is challenging opportunity to keep the quality of education at a formidable level for a 125 plus year old institution with its traditions and values.                  Mr. S.Emmanuel Jebarajan, M.Sc., M.Phil., D.A.E.,
Choice Based Credit System at the American College popularly called the cafeteria approach allows students mobility and independence in the choice of courses widening their area of learning and interest. Actually, CBCS offers students a good deal of freedom in designing their own curriculum to suit their needs. Choice Based Credit System works at three levels:
  •  It anchors the students in the majoring discipline leading to academic excellence and professional competence
  •  It provides interdisciplinary context for learning, scholarship and research
  •  It widens students perspectives and furnishes opportunities for fresh insights
Revamping of CBCS to suit the changing needs of the students is underway. Providing ample scope to the students to experiment with learning through supportive and innovative courses and team teaching across disciplines are some of the features of paradigm shift that is contemplated. Life-enhancing courses will complement holistic education offered at the American College.
