Dean of Academic Advising
Mr. S.Emmanuel Jebarajan, M.Sc., M.Phil., D.A.E.,
Choice Based Credit System at the
American College popularly called the cafeteria approach allows students
mobility and independence in the choice of courses widening their area of
learning and interest. Actually, CBCS offers students a good deal of freedom in
designing their own curriculum to suit their needs. Choice Based Credit System
works at three levels:
It anchors the students in the
majoring discipline leading to academic excellence and professional competence
It provides interdisciplinary
context for learning, scholarship and research
It widens students perspectives
and furnishes opportunities for fresh insights
Revamping of CBCS to suit the changing
needs of the students is underway. Providing ample scope to the students to
experiment with learning through supportive and innovative courses and team
teaching across disciplines are some of the features of paradigm shift that is
contemplated. Life-enhancing courses will complement holistic education offered
at the American College.
